Freeview Play is set to roll out on Loewe televisions later this year, the two companies have announced.
The subscription free, live TV, catch-up and on-demand platform provides access to BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All 4, Demand 5 and UKTV Play.
Viewers with compatible Loewe televisions will soon be able to scroll back through the TV guide to access shows from the past seven days. Through the Search function, they can find favourite shows or discover new ones using Freeview Play’s Recommendations feature. The hybrid platform provides viewers with 70 digital and 15 HD channels, for no monthly cost.
Freeview managing director Guy North said: “Loewe has a long heritage of producing great looking televisions and with the addition of Freeview Play these sets now have a rich content offering to complement their beautiful design. With this launch, consumers now have an even greater variety of ways to get quality, subscription free TV, from a £60 set top box to a timeless piece of Loewe design-led engineering.”
Loewe UK Ltd marketing manager Charlie Cann commented: “Freeview Play is a fantastic addition to Loewe TVs. Loewe customers can now enjoy the full suite of UK catch-up TV services, together with innovative features such as the Backwards TV guide and Recommendations, which consolidate content across all the catch-up services for an amazingly user-friendly experience.
“With Freeview Play now integrated into Loewe’s beautifully designed, intuitive user-interface, Loewe can offer consumers the best of British catch-up TV combined with the finest German made televisions.”
Technical development of Freeview Play, including product specification, is being led by Digital UK.
