LG Electronics showcased its European product range for 2014 at its InnoFest conference in Venice, March 19.

Vice president and Europe region head at LG Brian Na said: “InnoFest is our chance to showcase our diverse consumer electronics and appliance offerings for European consumers against the backdrop of an economy that’s showing signs of turning the corner. Success in Europe is a prerequisite for being a global company in today’s business world.”

LG revealed both white and brown goods during the event. Among the products on show were a new range of laundry appliances, microwave cookware, audio visual appliances, door-in-door fridge freezers and the 2014 television range.

The new range of front-loading washing machines (pictured) will be available in Series 1, 2 and 3, with each featuring the direct drive, six-motion technology that offers a variety of washing motions and the inverter direct drive motor which is guaranteed for 10 years by LG and is described as performing “reliably and quietly”. All three models also boast an A+++-40% energy efficiency rating, and NFC tagging, which allows the downloading of the LG washer app and new wash programmes which can be tagged to the washing machine and used regularly.

One of the major features, according to LG, is the addition of the TurboWash function. This includes a jet spray for increased speed of soaking, likened to a power shower, and can complete a full washing programme in 59 minutes.

UK commercial director for CE at LG Andrew McKay also spoke about the “world’s only” EcoHybrid washer dryer which can complete an 8kg load of washing, and dry it, without being removed from the machine. It also features a water saving mode, which can reportedly save up to 6,956 litres of water per year.

LG unveiled additions to the refrigeration range. The inverter linear compressor in the machines is reportedly “50 percent more energy efficient than one equipped with a conventional reciprocating compressor.” It also features reduced noise levels and improved durability.

The new door-in-door designs allow easy access to frequently used items, and also help prevent the loss of cold air when opening the refrigerator. According to LG, the door-in-door system reduces cold air loss by up to 41%. It also boasts a Total No Frost energy grade rating of A+++ -10%.

Following on from the “world’s first curved OLED TV” last year, the 2014 range includes flat and curved models, 4K and OLED in 55”, 65” and 77” sizes. The TVs feature IPS panels, which reportedly ensure true colour accuracy, a wide viewing angle, blur-free clarity and 4K resolution upscaling.

LG also unveiled the new webOS software which features in its new smart TV range. The webOS includes a new set up process, a launcher for switching between apps, TV and games, a live menu and recommended content.

The new operating system is another step towards greater connectivity of devices, and LG clearly view the advance towards the connected home to continue. After focusing on energy efficiency on its previous recent product ranges, this year is about Smart version 1.5, and digital appliances going from strength to strength.
